If you’re planning a kitchen renovation in 2024, it’s important to consider all of your options. It can be tricky to navigate through all of the designs and trends, so we have compiled a list of 5 designs that will be popular in 2024. Some of the inspiration was from Houzz Magazines.
An increasing number of homeowners are embracing the idea of spacious, open kitchens. As per the latest findings, 64 percent of renovating homeowners adopt fully open-concept kitchen designs, eliminating walls that traditionally divide the kitchen from adjacent rooms. The primary motivations behind this trend include enhancing functionality, cited by 64 percent of respondents, and improving entertainment capabilities, mentioned by 54 percent.
Homeowners are opting for high-tech appliances that are flush and seamless with the wall. Furthermore, according to the report, homeowners are opting for appliances with high-tech capabilities. About 30 percent of renovating homeowners choose appliances with Wi-Fi connectivity, while 29 percent opt for models that can be controlled with a smartphone or tablet. Moreover, most homeowners (54 percent) prefer to replace all appliances during a renovation rather than just a few.
During renovations, a growing number of homeowners are choosing to update their kitchen’s backsplash, marking a 2-point increase from last year, according to the report. Presently, ceramic or porcelain tile remains the favored choice for backsplash material, capturing 54 percent of preferences, followed by engineered quartz at 11 percent. However, there’s also a notable interest in natural stone options such as marble (9 percent), quartzite (6 percent), and granite (4 percent).
Some clients opt for larger islands to take advantage of more space. Having a larger island can work very well in an open-concept kitchen. A larger kitchen island gives you more space to prepare meals and entertain friends and family, so many homeowners opt to extend their islands. According to the report, 42 percent of renovating homeowners are creating kitchen islands that are 7 feet or longer.
People want kitchens that work for them, which is why organization is becoming a top priority. Features such as cookie sheet organizers (55 percent), spice racks (44 percent), and cutlery and utensil organizers (41 percent and 37 percent, respectively) are increasing in popularity. Along with organization, clients also look for more storage space in their kitchen to save space elsewhere.
